Pilot phase suku enter final step in PNDS process

Pilot phase suku are currently holding  accountability meetings with the community, the twelfth and final step in the PNDS implementation process. The meeting is a formal opportunity for the community to assess what went well, and what could be improved next year when they receive their next PNDS grant.

The final report of expenditure, listing exactly what the grant money was spent on, is presented to the community. Sub-District Facilitators help ensure the report can be understood by the whole community.

People can ask their Community Management Team about the process of deciding, planning and constructing the infrastructure. They can raise any issues, or suggests ideas or improvements for next year.

The Community Management Team are democratically elected by the community in Step 2:  of the implementation process.

The participation of women, performance of teams and staff, and future training needs are also assesed at the meeting. All members of the community, including women, the elderly and people with disabilities are encouraged to attend the meeting.

The community of Ponilala built three community centres with their first grant. The community hope to use the centre as a place to hold meetings, and train their youth in technical skills to increase their chances of employment.
