The Alola Foundation held a workshop to share information on the performance and implementation of PNDS, at Fundasaun Alola’s Office, Caicoli, Dili, 22 August 2014.
Fundasaun Alola is a one of several civil societies working with PNDS, focused on the involvement and engagement of women in the national program.
The Secretary of State for Local Development, Samuel Mendonça, said “PNDS is a community program: the community choose, design, manage and implement their own projects, and finally the community gain the benefits”.
“Everyone’s participations in this program is very important. PNDS has a strong focus on gender initiatives, particularly women’s participation in decision-making”, Samuel Mendonça said.
PNDS works with civil societies, like the Alola Foundation, to encourage women to be involved and actively participate in national development, through PNDS.
The civil societies recommended that PNDS focus on strengthening communities’ capacity in finance, technical planning and construction skills, and social inclusion, so the program can be successfully managed by the community themselves.
The workshop was attended by university students and local NGOs.
